Your notes stay on your device.
Heartkept is local-first. We designed it so a caregiver can write the hardest things — a diagnosis, a fear, a nurse's name — without wondering where those words are going.
What we store on your device
Everything you type — rounds notes, medications, timeline events, the trusted circle roster, permission cards, your profile — is saved in your browser's local storage on this device. It does not sync to a server. Clearing your browser data clears the app.
What briefly leaves your device
A few features use an AI assistant. When you tap them, the text you send to that screen is transmitted to our AI gateway to generate a reply, and then returned to your device. We do not store it. Features that use AI:
- Procedure Decoder
- Companion (writing assistant)
- Weekly Reflection
- Glossary "Explain this term" fallback
- Voice capture (audio is transcribed and returned as text)
If a feature does not use AI, nothing leaves your device.
No accounts. No tracking pixels.
There is no sign-in. There is no analytics tracker profiling caregivers. There are no ads. There is no third-party data sale — there is no data to sell.
Taking your data with you
The Backup screen lets you export everything as a single encrypted file (AES-GCM 256-bit) using a passphrase only you know. Use it to move to a new device, or as an offline copy.
Not medical advice
Heartkept is a personal organizer, not a medical device. It does not replace the clinicians caring for your person. Always follow the guidance of the care team.
Questions or feedback? This is a caregiver-built project. Feedback shapes what ships next.
